Can I choose where to go for Physical Therapy?
Yes! You aren’t required to have physical therapy where your doctor sends you. It is always your option to choose a medical team that best suits your needs. Backworks Physical Therapy is not affiliated with any particular physicians’ group or corporation and accepts referrals from any practice.

Do I need a referral to receive physical therapy?
In the State of Illinois it is not required to have a prescription for PT. However, we do need to communicate with a physician.

What does a Physical Therapist do?
A Physical Therapist provides health services when medical problems, other health-related conditions, or pain limit a person’s ability to move and function in their daily lives. A physical therapist will examine you and develop a treatment plan to increase your ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability.

What types of treatment will I receive?
Treatment is always individually tailored for each patient. Depending on your condition, treatment may include: specific manual techniques (trigger point release, myofascial release, muscle energy), trigger point dry needling, joint mobilizations, therapeutic exercise, instruction in a home exercise program, patient education, balance activities, or modalities such as ultrasound or electrical stimulation.

Will it hurt?
It is our goal to provide the best possible treatment with the least discomfort possible. Most patients feel better after physical therapy. However, with some conditions discomfort may be noticed. Please be sure to address any concerns either on the phone or at the next visit with your therapist.

How long do treatments take?
Plan on each visit lasting approximately 1 hour. Unlike most physical therapy practices, we schedule every patient for a full hour of individual treatment.

What should I wear?
